Fuse Board Upgrades

Modern consumer units with full RCD protection, from £750

Fuse Board Replacement

Prometheon Electrical Solutions replaces old fuse boards with modern consumer units across Flintshire, North Wales, Cheshire and the Wirral, typically from £750 to £1,100. An upgrade adds modern RCD protection and can improve the safety of your installation.

Your fuse board, or consumer unit, is what protects every circuit in your home. Older boards may not provide the same level of protection as modern consumer units, and upgrading can improve the safety of your electrical installation.

Signs your board may need replacing include an older-style fuse board, a lack of RCD protection, visible damage, overheating, nuisance tripping, or new electrical work that needs better protection. If you're not sure, we can inspect the existing installation and advise you honestly.

Most fuse board upgrades are priced between £750 and £1,100. We'll explain what's included before we start, keep the power off for as little time as possible and label every circuit clearly so you know exactly what's what.

Once the new board is in, every circuit is tested and you receive the certification for the work. If testing turns up problems elsewhere in the installation, we'll let you know and talk you through the options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fuse Board Questions

What areas do you cover?

We're based in Flintshire and work across North Wales, Cheshire and the Wirral, including Mold, Holywell, Denbigh, St Asaph, Wrexham and Chester. If you're not sure whether we cover your area, give us a call on 07842 492371 and we'll let you know.

What are your opening hours?

We're open 7 days a week: 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 6pm on Sunday. You can call, WhatsApp or email, or use the quote form on the website and we'll come back to you.

Who will carry out the work?

Prometheon Electrical Solutions is run by Nathan Creevy, and Nathan oversees every job. On some jobs, such as rewires, he works alongside trusted electricians he knows well, but you'll always deal with Nathan directly.

How do your quotes work?

Quotes are free and based on the information we have at the time. They're valid for 30 days, and if anything extra is needed once work starts we'll explain it and agree it with you before going ahead.

When do I pay?

Payment is due when the work is complete unless we've agreed something different in writing. If a deposit or staged payment is needed, for example for a larger lighting scheme, it will be clearly shown on your quotation.

Do I get certification for the work?

Yes. Electrical work is tested on completion and you receive the appropriate certification for the work we've carried out. Our workmanship guarantee is set out on your quotation or invoice, and manufacturer warranties apply separately to the products we fit.

Are you insured?

Yes. Prometheon Electrical Solutions holds £1 million public liability insurance, so you can have peace of mind while we work in your home or business.

Why would I need to upgrade my fuse board?

Older fuse boards may not provide the same level of protection as modern consumer units. An upgrade can improve the safety and protection of your electrical installation.

How do I know if my fuse board needs replacing?

Signs can include an older-style fuse board, lack of RCD protection, damage, overheating, nuisance tripping or additional electrical work requiring improved protection. We can inspect the existing installation and advise you.

How much does a fuse board upgrade cost?

Most fuse board upgrades are priced between £750 and £1,100. We'll confirm exactly what's included before any work starts.

Will my power be off all day?

The power has to be off while the new board is connected, but we plan the work to keep that time as short as possible and let you know in advance roughly how long it will be.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. Every circuit is tested once the new board is in, and you receive the certification for the work. If testing finds problems elsewhere in the installation, we'll explain them and talk you through the options.
